Massive attack and radiohead questions
1. The meaning
of unfinished sympathy is the fear of getting hurt when you fall in love or the
pain that you feel if you get too close to someone however it does not go well.
A negative view of love is presented here by massive attack that they could
have been through, plus love is a powerful emotion.
The meaning
of Radiohead is the meaning of fear and imagination and culture, clearly people
are scared of them however these people take the fear to another level and this
is shown both in the lyrics and in the video.
2. the messages that the convey is the message of fear in both songs but with different meanings. burn the witch creates a message of love, lost and fear when you fear of losing someone that you love and massive attack wants to create this message to the audience. the culture of burn the witch is shown and this is the message as well as fear which is one of the main themes both in this song and in the video burn the witch.
3. the artists have been represented as fearful perhaps although with the burn the witch song following the trumpton and the wicker man path it is hard to get a clear picture so clearly the artists are fearful. in unfinished sympathy the band massive attack uses these types of lyrics to show the fear of losing someone or the fear of getting too close. there are other interpretations that we could get from the lyrics that shara nelson had sung.
4. they may have been presented like this because of the way that the world was fearing stuff during these times. maybe we are too fearful. we dont see in burn the witch the artist we only see the puppets that have came from the trumptonshire trilogy and we see the different cultures and the different feelings that these people have for people from the outside. maybe they are fearful of them and they decide to take the fear to another level by burning them.
5. I would say that the videos do represent the artists successfully as it shows of their creativity skills and their emotion and this is shown during the two music videos. in unfinished sympathy we see the artist shara nelson using her strengths to sing this song about love. the use of post punk adds a difference and creativity and shows off the bands skills. in burn the witch the band radiohead uses a clever mix of trumpton and the wicker man and clearly expresses their emotions. the songs do link as both in some way can be noted as songs about fear. we dont see this much in burn the witch as puppets are used however we do see the creativity of the two artists
6. massive attack was taken in one shot which you do not usually see regularly as music videos are usually taken in multiple shots. radio head shows a music video of an old kids TV show from the trumptonshire trilogy.
7. radiohead uses a mix of trumpton and the wicker man to create their video. both are quite old and may have been the films and tv series that radiohead had watched when they were younger. an old fashioned feel to a video that was released in 2016. the video is creative with a hint of weirdness and i would think that many people would agree.
8. the street has been used to show what it was like back in those days and we do see a clearer picture of what Bristol was like. this was taken in one shot to show the different styles of music video and this is not ordinary. clearly massive attack wanted to do something different and they succeeded in this.
9. i would say that the video and the lyrics do link well in both songs. i like the way that massive attack has used the streets of Bristol to carry out their post punk style song and it got the whole of Bristol talking maybe because how well the video linked with the actual song. in burn the witch the use of art rock that the band have used has a positive effect as well as the video which is different and creative and we dont see this much in the modern era.
10. the audience would get a good feeling especially from the massive attack unfinished sympathy song as the use of post punk style makes it chilled out and the instrumental can also add to this. in radioheads burn the witch we see a old style video which entertains the audience whilst calming music plays in the background.
