Massive Attack

Massive Attack

the band was made up by different types of people with different abilities, its members are Robert Del naja, Andrew vowles, Grant Marshall and Stephanie dosen and it formed in 1987 so it is an old band with a punk/hip hop range of music from the town of Bristol where music was not one of the topics in discussion and massive attack clearly wanted to change this... and they succeeded.

blue lines was the first of many to be albums that massive attack would release and this got everyone talking especially in Bristol who had not experienced this before.  according to one of the band members 3d the album took 8 months to make showing the effort put in to this album and the rewards were worth it.

street culture is where the youth show off their talents in the streets, graffiti can often be seen as it shows the hip hop side of street culture and street culture itself.

the album blue lines was the first to be released some 20 years+ ago released in 1991. the music was different and the had a whole host of records including unfinished sympathy which was a massive hit from massive attack. other records were blue lines, safe from harm and one love and many more. the different types of music merged together to make some of the best songs in this decade, something that the band wanted to create and something that the who of Bristol would talk about, which they did.

unfinished symphony featured a woman who was called shara nelson and the other members featured in this video, it started with the instrumental which was different to others and from this point the audience would soon recognized that this was different and popular. shara nelson would walk down the street singing while the other band members would take it in turns to follow, this whole video was taken in one shot which was not done a lot in those days or now offering something different to the music video as well as the actual song.

ballie Walsh is a director and was director of unfinished symphony as well as other songs and movies. he created visual stories which was described as sumptuous. he loved atmospheric music and surroundings as well as precision and technical craftsmanship. he has worked with scarlet johansen, Daniel Craig and jenson button as well as many more famous people.

street culture is the cultural aspect of the streets where music is creative and the youth can express their creativeness in the streets. we see this in unfinished sympathy as it is based in the streets of Bristol. it is also known as urban culture.

post punk is denoting a style of rock music inspired by punk but less aggressive and more musical. another name for post punk is new music and clearly massive attack used this in their songs to see what the reaction is. evidently they got a good reaction and the whole of Bristol got talking about them which is what they wanted to do.
